Registration for 2025 is now open
We were a successful recipient of a "Play Our Way" grant from the Australian Government. All players who register to play for our Women's team will receive training shorts, a training shirt, playing shorts, playing socks, a polo shirt, tracksuit pants, a hoodie, and a gear bag. Registration will cost $75 for women.
The Southern Cats Women's team will play in the AFL Canberra Community Women's Division. Home games are split equally between Canberra and Cooma with three (3) or four (4) home games at Snowy Oval in Cooma depending on the fixture. Away games can be played in Canberra, Googong, or Bateman's Bay depending on the opponent. The club generally provides a bus for players when travelling to Bateman's Bay.
Games are played at either 10am or 12pm on Saturdays. Players are expected to arrive at the ground one hour and 15 minutes prior to the start of play to warm up.
Wherever possible, the Women's team and Men's team will train together. Depending on where you live you can choose to train in Cooma or in Canberra. The Men's team primarily train in Canberra. Training sessions are held in Canberra and Cooma on Monday and Wednesday nights. The Monday night is a short, light skills session and the Wednesday night is a full length fitness and match simulation session.

"Azzo" is a Cooma local who has played, coached, and volunteered for the club in a number of capacities over the years. He is a fully accredited coach and took the Men's team from the bottom of the ladder to finals during his time as Head Coach. He was also instrumental in the change of culture at the club that culminated in our 2018 premiership (whilst he was President). He is a life member of the club and the "Best Clubperson" award is named after him and his brother Adam.
He is the perfect person to found our Women's team and build a inclusive, sustainable, and successful culture for the future
